Casa Chicoma is a 2.5 acre property located in the high desert of Santa Fe.

High enough that the midsummer days don’t feel too hot and the nights are always cool. Though only a 10-minute straight shot to the downtown Plaza, it feels a world away out here under the stars.

Inspired by and keeping with the previous life of the property (Suitable Digs, as it was called), we aim to provide a peaceful, inspiring place for guests to leave very little environmental impact on their travels. A large solar array supplies electricity, grey water systems feed the gardens, and dry composting toilets not only reduce the amount of water wasted, but eventually provide us with rich soil to grow the gardens! The landscape is planted with a variety of native wildflowers & grasses, fruit & nut trees, and the native cacti, junipers and piñons, along with a young forest of fruit, nut, and other deciduous trees, which all capture water and prevent runoff and erosion.

Your stay at Casa Chicoma offers you more than just a bed and bath. There are patios to relax, read or enjoy your coffee, gardens and greenhouses to explore, a chemical-free swimming hole to dip in after a lounge on the sun deck, an outdoor community table to dine at, and trails beyond the property to get some exercise and mountain views. Oh, and the three Chicoma mutts - Polly, Sid & Zeva - who can be seen roaming around and handing out free licks.

Four unique spaces are available to rent, individually or together for family/friends gatherings, retreats and workshops. Each has kitchen and bath facilities, and all share the outdoor communal space. Whether you enjoy the day in charming Santa Fe or spend your entire visit on the property, Casa Chicoma will be your own peaceful, very much alive slice of desert bliss ;)
